About Us

St.Jude Children's Home

St.Jude Children’s Home was founded by the Late Benedetta Akwero and originated from Anaka Sub-county in 1987 to Bardege, Gulu due to insecurity during the LRA insurgency .When Benadetta passed away in 1992, the good work she started went on with the good will of the Late Brother Elio Croce, a Comboni Missionary Brother and currently under the management of Gulu Archdiocese. In 2004 it was accorded operation license by (MGLSD) Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development as an approved children’s Home with the purpose to provide a second Home to the vulnerable children and support to the needy in the community.

The Home is a private Catholic non-profit organization recognized by the registered trustees of Gulu Archdiocese to provide a public comprehensive Care and Support beyond the personal interest of its members to Orphans and other Vulnerable Children with the aims of preparing them to face future challenges.
