Meet Rubangatwero Timothy: A Story of Strength and Recovery Rubangatwero Timothy, a known patient with congenital heart disease, once faced severe physical limitations — he was unable to stand or walk on his own. On April 30th, 2025, he was enrolled in the milk support program at Stefano Campagnolo Health Centre II. Since then, Timothy has shown remarkable improvement. Today, he can stand and walk without any support — a milestone that brings joy and hope to all who have followed his journey. He now weighs 10 kg, and his MUAC (Mid-Upper Arm Circumference) has improved to 12.8 cm (green zone), indicating good nutritional recovery. Timothy’s progress is a powerful reminder of how timely support, proper nutrition, and compassionate care can transform a child’s life.

Brian Komakech grew up at St. Jude after being found alone in his village as a child during the civil war As he grew up, Brian felt a deep desire to give back what he had received. The care, love, and attention that had been given to him throughout his childhood inspired a calling: to help others, just as others had helped him. Driven by this purpose, he pursued studies in healthcare and successfully completed the nursing program at Lacor Hospital. But Brian didn’t stop there. He chose to dedicate his life to St. Jude, becoming a role model and support figure for many other children and young people cared for by the center. After completing a two-year internship at the St. Jude clinic, he was given a new role: he was transferred to the Stefano Campagnolo Health Centre, where he now works as a nurse and also assists with the administrative management of the dispensary. And his commitment continues. Soon, Brian will begin coordinating a vaccination program in local villages, with the goal of increasing immunization coverage in rural areas that often lack access to basic healthcare services. Brian’s story is a living testimony to how love, support, and access to education can transform a person’s future — and, through them, the future of an entire community.

Seven years after being abandoned at Lacor, Francis has finally met part of his family! Thanks to the family tracing efforts, home visits, and financial support provided to cover the long journey, Francis’s grandmother and uncle were able to come to St. Jude and meet him for the very first time. It was an incredibly emotional moment for all of us! Family reunification is a top priority for our team of social workers, who work every week to visit at least one family per child and to create a safe, welcoming environment for their return to family life. Your support helps us reach families living far from Gulu and assist them through small start-ups, construction, or other forms of support to make the home a warm and suitable place for our children to return to. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! A
