With the children, I discovered the importance of small things. In their eyes, I saw a pure happiness, mixed with a melancholy that reaches deep inside you. Sometimes a simple hug is enough to make them feel safe, to help them understand that they are not alone. And then there are the “mothers,” incredible women who take care of them with immense strength and love. They are not only maternal figures, but also friends who welcomed me warmly, made me feel cared for, and guided me through their culture and daily life. With them, I felt the warmth of a big family.
