Perché il St. Jude

Il St.Jude Children’s Home nacque ad Anaka, nel distretto di Gulu, nel 1981 e rappresentò l'avverarsi di un grande desiderio di una maestra d'asilo: Bernardetta Akwero.

I bambini inizialmente accolti non erano ancora gli orfani della guerra e dell’AIDS, ma piuttosto le vittime di mali comuni a moltissimi bambini dell’Africa, quelli cioè dell’estrema povertà e della mancanza di un futuro sereno>

St. Jude's Charity Ball, Sligo (Ireland)

On Nov 1st 2008, the Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council Jude Devins will host a charity ball in aid of St Jude Children’s Home in Sligo. There has been huge support for the event with over 400 guests expected in attendance. It will be a most enjoyable night with excellent food, music and entertainment. An auction on the night will help raise the vital funds for St Jude Children’s Home.

Sligo has a strong connection with St Jude. Mary Gannon, Dara Mc Garty and Oliver O Reilly are just some of the Sligo people who have made an enormous contribution to this project and their commitment and infectious enthusiasm has attracted interest and support from many quarters.

It is expected that the ball will be a highly successful event and will raise further awareness and funds for our children at St Jude. We at St Jude are very grateful to everyone who has made this night happen and will assure that your donation will go a long way to helping every child at St Jude.
